1. Vote on resolution against Sri Lanka at UNHRC postponed to Tuesday

The vote on a critical resolution against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva has been postponed to Tuesday, as Colombo stepped up efforts to garner international support ahead of the voting which is being seen as an acid test for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

2. Putin to get coronavirus vaccine shot in Russia on Tuesday

President Vladimir Putin said he will get a coronavirus vaccine shot on Tuesday, several months after widespread vaccination has started in Russia.

3. Afghan foreign minister arrives in India on three-day visit

Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar arrived in New Delhi on Monday on a three-day visit against the backdrop of renewed efforts to speed up the peace process in Afghanistan. Atmar is scheduled to hold extensive talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar later in the day with a focus on the Afghan peace process and ways to further bolster bilateral cooperation in a range of areas.

4. Loan moratorium: SC to pronounce verdict on Tuesday on pleas for relief from trade bodies

The Supreme Court will on Tuesday pronounce verdict on a batch of pleas by various trade associations, including from real estate and power sectors, seeking extension of loan moratorium and other reliefs in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

5. Focus on Dhawan, as India eyes winning start in ODI series against England

Struggling opener Shikhar Dhawan will be the focus in a spoilt-for-choice Indian team when it takes on world champion England in a three-match ODI series starting here on Tuesday with the visitors eyeing a positive end to their tour after Test and T20 debacles.

6. India vs South Africa | Indian women to play for pride

The final T20, to be played on Tuesday, therefore may be of little consequence as far as the rubber goes, but the Women in Blue will surely want to avoid a whitewash. They will have to come up with an improved display, especially in fielding and bowling.

7. Rajasthan: Nomination process for bypolls to 3 Assembly seats begins

The nomination process for the bypolls to three Assembly constituencies in Rajasthan is set to begin from Tuesday. The last date for filing nominations is March 30 while the scrutiny of papers will be held on March 31.

8. Israeli election seen as referendum on divisive Netanyahu

Israelis vote Tuesday in their fourth parliamentary election in just two years. Once again, the race boils down to a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

9. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments

The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 1,16,52,756 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 1,61,410.
