Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 22,14,128 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The toll from the disease stands at 44,475. 2. Supreme Court verdict on telcos AGR dues The Supreme Court is expected to give its final verdict in the adjusted gross revenue case today, ruling on whether telecom companies Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will be allowed a relaxed payment structure for clearing the dues they owe to the Union government. Both companies had sought 20 years to make their AGR payment to the government in a staggered manner. 3. Manipur CM to move trust motion The Manipur Assembly will vote on a trust motion to decide the fate of the coalition government led by the BJP. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh moved the trust motion on Friday in the wake of a no-confidence motion by the Opposition Congress.

Prashant Bhushan contempt case | Supreme Court to pronounce interim orders A three-judge Bench led by Justice Arun Mishra had reserved the case for orders on August 4 after an almost day-long hearing which was not accessible to the media. 7. Facebook officials to depose before JPC on Data Protection Bill The joint Parliamentary committee currently examining the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, has called officials from U.S. tech giant Facebook to depose today as per the Lok Sabha website.

Monsoon to become active again over coastal Maharashtra from Monday The south west monsoon is expected to become active again over Mumbai and other parts of coastal Maharashtra from Monday after moderate rainfall in the city and neighbouring areas in the last two days, the India Meteorological Department has said. 9. Heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha in next 5-days: IMD A fresh low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday, which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in most parts of Odisha in next five days, prompting the state government to direct all district administrations to remain prepared to deal with possible waterlogging and local flooding. 10. Delhi University all set to conduct online open-book exams for final-year students from Monday Differently-abled students accuse university of being ‘discriminatory’.

ED to question Rhea Chakraborty again in money laundering case The Enforcement Directorate questioned Showik Chakraborty, brother of actor Rhea Chakraborty, for about 18 hours in connection with a money laundering case linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, officials said on Sunday. 12. ICC board meeting to discuss election process Finalising the nomination process to elect Shashank Manohar’s successor as the next independent chairman of the world cricket body is the sole agenda for the ICC Board, which will meet virtually on Monday.
