1. US military flies out evacuees in waning hours of withdrawal

 

America's 20-year war in Afghanistan entered its final hours Monday with the last Americans seeking to be evacuated and the U.S. military preparing to end its airlift and depart the Taliban-controlled capital.

2. CJI N V Ramana to administer oath of office to nine new SC judges today

Nine new judges, including three women, would be administered oath of office as judges of the Supreme Court by Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana on Tuesday.

3. Chhattisgarh BJP to hold 'chintan shivir' in Bastar from today

The opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh is holding a three-day-long 'chintan shivir' (brainstorming session) from Tuesday in adivasi-domianted Bastar district, which is being seen as an exercise to regain its tribal vote base ahead of the 2023 assembly polls.

4. Implementation of NEP, 4-yr UG programme to come up in DU executive council meet today

Implementation of the National Education Policy, a four-year undergraduate programme and merger of College of Arts with the city government-run Ambedkar University will come up for discussion during the Delhi University executive council meeting on Tuesday, according to the agenda document. 

 

5. Jantar Mantar hate slogan case: Accused Hindu Raksha Dal chief talks of surrender in online video

A video has surfaced online in which Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinki Chaudhary, accused of raising communal slogans at a rally in Jantar Mantar here, is seen purportedly denying all allegations against him and claiming that he would surrender before Delhi Police on Tuesday.

6. Petrol pump strike in Bengal today

 Around 3000 petrol pumps across West Bengal will join a one-day strike on August 31, a petroleum dealers' body said here on Monday.West Bengal Petroleum Dealers Association (WBPDA) called for a no-purchase-no-sale agitation on Tuesday to press for its two primary demands - stopping supply of ethanol-blended petrol during the monsoon and putting an end to short supply of fuel to dispensing stations.

7. Vice President to launch Khadi India quiz contest today

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will launch a digital quiz contest - AmritMahotsavWithKhadi - here on Tuesday, the MSME ministry said.The contest, it said, would comprise questions about the Indian freedom struggle, Khadi's role in the Swadeshi Movement and Indian polity.

8. SC verdict on Tuesday on Supertech's plea against HC's demolition order of twin 40-storey towers

The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce its verdict on Tuesday on a plea of realty major Supertech Ltd against the order of Allahabad High Court directing the demolition of twin 40-storey towers in the Emerald Court project in Noida for violation of building norms
