PM Modi to interact with CMs of north-eastern states on COVID-19 situation Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the chief ministers of eight north-eastern states on Tuesday to discuss the COVID-19 situation amid concerns over the coronavirus numbers in the region. Official sources said Modi will interact with the chief ministers of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram via video conferencing. 2. Security Situation in Afghanistan remains focus as Jaishankar leaves for Tajikistan and Uzbekistan External Affairs Minister S. Goa wants change, says Kejriwal ahead of visit A day before his visit to Goa, where Assembly polls are due next year, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the state has had "enough of dirty politics" and wants change. The Aam Aadmi Party leader will visit Goa on Tuesday. The party has decided to contest the assembly polls in the state. 5. Rainfall: IMD issues orange alert for Rajasthan, J&K The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir, and yellow alert for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh for Tuesday with warning of heavy rains. Red alert has been issued for Konkan and Goa, and central Maharashtra, while an orange alert warning has been issued for Gujarat, parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Assam, it said. Application process for NEET entrance test to begin today NEET entrance test for undergraduate medical programmes will be held on September 12, announces Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments Containment measures in Assams Jorhat and Golaghat districts, which reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases on Sunday in the state, have been further tightened as the daily count continued to be on the rise in these two neighbouring districts, despite being declared as containment zones on July 7. The number of positive coronavirus cases in India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 31,001, taking the tally in the country to 3,09,02,179 at the time of publishing this newsletter.
