1. Delhi will have to shut Covaxin jab centres for 18-plus if stocks not refilled: AtishiAAP leader Atishi on Monday said the Delhi government will have to close vaccination centres where Covaxin is being administered to beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group after Tuesday evening if its stocks are not replenished. Delhi's Covaxin stock for this category would last till Tuesday evening, she said, adding Covishield doses for this age group can only last up to four days. 2. Delhi HC to hear plea against Central Vista work todayThe Delhi High Court on Tuesday will hear an application seeking a stay on all construction at the Central Vista amid the raging COVID-19 pandemic. Senior advocate Sidharth Luthra, representing the petitioners, told the Bench comprising of Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh that the Supreme Court on May 7 asked the petitioners to seek an urgent hearing before the High Court on May 10. 3. Thunderstorm alert issued for Himachal PradeshThe Meteorological Department has issued an orange weather warning for thunderstorms in Himachal Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday. The Shimla MeT office has forecasted rains in plains, low and middle hills. It has also predicted rain and snowfall in high hills from Tuesday to Sunday. 4. Telangana Cabinet meets on Tuesday to take a call on lockdownThe Telangana Cabinet will meet on Tuesday to discuss the COVID-19 situation and take a call on whether to impose a lockdown in the State or not. The Cabinet will discuss various issues that would be impacted by a lockdown, an official press release said on Monday 5. Strict 15-day lockdown starts in RajasthanA strict 15-day-long COVID-19 lockdown started in Rajasthan on Monday, with the closure of markets, vehicular traffic and religious places, including a ban on wedding ceremonies. While the State government claimed that the lockdown will help break the chain of virus infection, the Opposition BJP alleged mismanagement and waste of crucial resources. 6. COVID-19: Train services in Kashmir suspended for 6 days, says RailwaysRailway authorities on Monday decided to suspend train services in the Kashmir Valley for six days, starting Tuesday, in view of the worsening COVID-19 situation. 7. Delhi government issues list of oxygen refilling centres for patients in home isolationThe Delhi government on Monday issued a list of 79 oxygen refilling centres for individuals in home isolation across the city. The list of the refilling centres was issued days after the Delhi government set up a web portal on May 6 to streamline distribution of the life-saving gas to coronavirus patients in home isolation, non-COVID-19 hospitals, and nursing homes. 8. Two face trial as China enforces online control amid pandemicMore than a year after two amateur computer coders were taken by police from their Beijing homes, they are set to be tried on Tuesday in a case that illustrates the Chinese government's growing online censorship and heightened sensitivity to any deviation from the official narrative on its COVID-19 response. Authorities have not said specifically why Chen Mei, 28, and Cai Wei, 27, were arrested in April last year, so friends and relatives can only guess. 9. Survey finds majority in favour of continuing lockdown restrictions in MaharashtraA survey with more than 18,000 responses from citizens residing in 30 districts of Maharashtra shows that the majority are in favour of continuing lockdown restrictions, but with permission for home deliveries to minimise consumer inconvenience and business disruption, not only of essentials but of other goods as well. The restrictions are set to end May 14 mid-night and the government is likely to announce a new set of regulations. The survey was conducted online by LocalCircles, one of the leading community social media platforms that enables citizens and small businesses to escalate issues for policy and enforcement interventions and enables the government to make policies that are citizen and small business centric. 10. Controlling COVID-19 my first priority, making Assam one of the top five my aim: Himanta SarmaNew Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said controlling the "alarming" COVID-19 situation in the State is his first priority and his aim will be to make the State one of the top five in the country in the next five years. Mr. Sarma, who was addressing the press after being sworn in, appealed to all insurgent groups of Assam, specially ULFA (I) to lay down arms and join the mainstream to sort out their issues and establish lasting peace in the State. 11. First 'Oxygen Express' train to arrive in Bengaluru on TuesdayThe first 'Oxygen Express' to Karnataka with six cryogenic containers — a total of 120 tonnes — left Jamshedpur on Monday. The train is expected to reach Inland Container Depot, Container Corporation of India, Whitefield, on Tuesday, an official press release said. 12. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developmentsIndia recorded 3,05,284 new COVID-19 cases until 9.30 p.m. on Monday. As many as 3,493 new deaths were also registered.
