1. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar heads for Tokyo for Quad meeting
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will meet the other Foreign Ministers of the Australia-India-Japan-United States Quadrilateral or Quad in Tokyo on Tuesday, which is seen as a significant turning point for the grouping, led by growing concerns over China in the region. Officials aware of the agenda say that cooperation on 5G connectivity, cybersecurity, a supply chain initiative for manufacturing, maritime cooperation and infrastructure and connectivity, as well as distribution plans for the COVID-19 vaccine are all areas where alternatives to Chinese initiatives will be discussed.
2. Hathras: SC to hear plea for CBI or SIT probe today

A three-judge Bench led by Chief Justice of India Sharad A. Bobde will on Tuesday hear a writ petition seeking a CBI or Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the brutal gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. The petition filed by Delhi-based activist Satyama Dubey, through advocate Sanjeev Malhotra, said the investigation should be monitored by a former Supreme Court or High Court judge. It said the trial of the accused persons should be shifted to Delhi.

The Union government informed the Supreme Court that a fresh show-cause notice had been issued to Sudarshan TV on Monday with regard to the content of their controversial show, ‘Bindas Bol’, which accuses Muslims of “infiltrating” the civil services with the help of funding from terror-linked organisations abroad.
5. Heavy police force in Sirsa as farmers' bodies plan to gherao Haryana Deputy CM's home
Security has been beefed up in the city in view of a protest call for Tuesday by farmers' organisations against the new farm laws during which they plan to gherao Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala's Sirsa home. Various routes leading to Chautala's residence have been sealed but farmers are adamant to gherao his house, police sources said.
6. Israeli, UAE Foreign Ministers to meet in Germany
The Foreign Ministers of Israel and the United Arab Emirates will meet in Germany on Tuesday to discuss further steps in normalizing relations, officials said on Monday. Israel and the United Arab Emirates last month signed an agreement in Washington to normalise diplomatic ties and forge a broad new relationship.

EU chief von der Leyen 'self-isolating' until Tuesday
The president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said Monday she would self-isolate for a day after learning she had met someone infected with coronavirus. The former German Defence Minister said she had tested negative twice -- once last Thursday and again on Monday -- but would continue her self-isolation “as foreseen by the regulations in force.”
