1. SC to hear Lakhimpur Kheri matter today 

 The Supreme Court has decided to hear today the Lakhimpur Kheri case of Uttar Pradesh in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed as violence erupted during a farmers' protest. As per the cause list uploaded on the apex court website, a three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli would hear the matter.

 

2. PM to inaugurate 35 PSA oxygen plants 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 35 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants established under the PM CARES fund across 35 states and union territories in an event to be held at AIIMS Rishikesh in Uttarakhand today.

3. AC local trains to be back on Mumbai's Trans-Harbour section 

The Central Railway has announced the restoration of all 16 air-conditioned suburban train services on Mumbai's Trans-Harbour line from Thursday. 

4. Zee Entertainment moves NCLT; petition to be heard today

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) on Wednesday moved the NCLAT seeking more time to file reply over the requisition of minority shareholders Invesco and OFI Global China Fund to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). 

5. Drakes replaces injured Sam Curran in CSK squad

 

Chennai Super Kings has signed Dominic Drakes as a replacement for the injured England all-rounder Sam Curran for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2021.Chennai Super Kings will take on Punjab Kings in their last league game today at the Dubai International Stadium. After a stupendous run that saw it become the first team to qualify for the IPL play-off, Chennai Super Kings has suffered a slump of sorts, going down in its last two games. 

6. KKR eye handsome win over RR to remain ahead in play-off race

 Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders would strive for a handsome win over struggling Rajasthan Royals in their last round-robin game to stay ahead in the IPL play-offs race in Sharjah on Thursday. 

7. World Wrestling Championship: Anshu Malik creates history

 

Anshu Malik on Wednesday created history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the World Championship final when she outclassed junior European champion Solomiia Vynnyk but Sarita Mor lost her semifinal and will fight for a bronze in Oslo. India has only one world Champion in Sushil till date and Anshu can create another history today.

8. Nobel Prize in Literature announcement today

This year's Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced later today. Between 1901 and 2020, the Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded 113 times to 117 laureates with the inaugural prize going to French poet Sully Prudhomme, and not Leo Tolstoy. Will the Literature Nobel go to the well-known writers on the list like Canada's Margaret Atwood or Japan's Haruki Murakami?  

9. Nepali Congress delegation to arrive in India

A high-level delegation representing the ruling Nepali Congress will arrive in New Delhi on Thursday. The delegation led by former Foreign Minister of Nepal Prakash Sharan Mahat is expected to interact with the leading figures of the BJP and is being viewed as an outreach from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba towards the Indian government.  The visit will be keenly observed in both Kathmandu and here as Mr. Deuba's government has hinted that it will not compromise on the territorial dispute of Kalapani.
