1. Plea in SC seeks direction to permit farmers' body to stage 'Satyagrah' at Jantar Mantar 

The plea, which is scheduled to be taken up for hearing on Friday by a bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, has sought the apex court's direction to the concerned authorities to provide space to at least 200 farmers or protestors of 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' at the Jantar Mantar for organising peaceful and non-violent 'Satyagrah'. 

2. DU to release first cut-off for UG courses today 

The Delhi University will release its first cut-off list for undergraduate courses on Friday with the scores expected to soar higher this year from last time as more students have scored above 95 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 board examinations. 

Some colleges said they could even keep the cut-offs at 100 per cent in order to avoid "over-admissions" on the limited number of seats.

 

3. New auto debit rules of RBI to set in from today

With the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) extended deadline coming to an end, there will be no automatic recurring payment for various services including recharge and utility bill as the additional factor of authentication (AFA) will become mandatory from Friday. As part of risk mitigation measures, RBI announced this step to bolster safety and security of card transactions. 

4. PM to launch second phases of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, AMRUT today 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation on Friday, his office said. 

In line with the vision of the prime minister, SBM-U 2.0 and AMRUT 2.0 have been designed to realise the aspiration to make all cities garbage free and water secure, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement on Thursday. 

5. Vietnam to end virus lockdown in largest city after 3 months 

Vietnam will lift the lockdown in its largest city on Friday, ending nearly three months of restrictions on movement to curb a coronavirus surge. People in Ho Chi Minh City, a metropolis of 10 million, will be able to leave their homes, restaurants can serve take-away meals and other essential businesses can open, the city said on its website Thursday. 

6. All eyes on Venkatesh vs Bishnoi match-up as upbeat KKR square off against Punjab Kings 

IPL's newest sensation Venkatesh Iyer's footwork or the lack of it will be put through a stern test against the sharp googlies bowled by Ravi Bishnoi when Kolkata Knight Riders square off against a beleaguered Punjab Kings in Dubai on Friday. 

It will be the biggest match-up in the game which is very important for KL Rahul's Punjab Kings if they have any intentions of staying afloat in the competition.
