1. Cabinet may consider relief package for telecom sector today

The Union Cabinet may consider on Wednesday a moratorium on payment of spectrum dues by telecom firms as part of a package for the sector aimed at giving relief to companies such as Vodafone Idea that have to pay thousands of crores of rupees in unprovisioned past statutory dues.

2. Cabinet may approve revised PLI scheme for auto sector today

 

The Union Cabinet is likely to approve on Wednesday the revised production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile sector, which aims at promoting domestic manufacturing and create jobs, according to sources.

8. Tropical storm Nicholas may cause deadly flash floods in U.S.

 

Hurricane Nicholas, now a tropical storm, made landfall along the Texas coast on Tuesday, bringing the threat of up to 20 inches of rainfall to parts of the Gulf Coast, including the same area hit by Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and storm-battered Louisiana. The storm could also cause life-threatening flash floods across the deep south.

11. Athletics Nationals an opportunity for youngsters to make a mark

The season-ending National Open Athletics Championships, beginning in Warangal on Wednesday, will be an opportunity for youngsters to create a mark after the country's big guns opted out of the event. This is the 11th national-level track and field competition this year. Race walker Bhawna Jat and quarter-miler V Revathi are the only two athletes from Tokyo Olympics contingent participating in the event.

12. Ibrahimovic out of AC Milan's UCL opener against Liverpool

AC Milan will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic for their Champions League opener against Liverpool on Wednesday.
