1. Biden to hold first in-person QUAD Summit at White House today 

U.S. President Joe Biden would host the first-ever in-person Quad summit on September 24 which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia and Japanese premier Yoshihide Suga.

 

2. Joe Biden to host a bilateral meeting with PM Modi 

President Biden will host Modi at the White House for their first bilateral meeting on September 24. Both Biden and Prime Minister Modi have spoken virtually on multiple occasions after the former, a Democrat, became US president in January. The last telephone conversation between them took place on April 26.

3. Two killed in firing during protests against eviction in Assam  

Staccato sounds of gunfire broke the fragile peace of Sipajhar in Assam's Darrang district on Thursday as police tried to evict "encroachers", leaving two people dead in police firing, around 20 injured in clashes, and a shocking video where an apparently dead man with a bullet wound on his chest lay motionless but was still hit by a man slinging a camera. 

4. Lok Sabha Speaker to address to joint sitting of Karnataka Legislature 

The Congress in Karnataka said it will boycott Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's address on Friday, the last day of the ongoing monsoon session, contending that it will set a "wrong precedent".  

The principal opposition is opposed to the address being held at the legislative assembly chamber and has stated that it will set a "wrong precedent" as no one other than the President of India and Karnataka Governor have addressed such joint sittings so far. 

5. Chandrasekhar Rao to meet Union Ministers during Delhi visit 

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will visit New Delhi on Friday and call on some union ministers to hold discussions on various issues relating to the state with them including paddy procurement. 

6. Monsoon session of Telangana Assembly session from today 

Various issues, including farm and water, besides law and order are expected to figure prominently in the monsoon session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly beginning Friday. 

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly would finalise the duration and agenda for the session on Friday. 

7. Rain lashes parts of national capital 

Rains lashed several parts of the national capital on Thursday evening, weather officials said here. According to the weather department, light rains are expected on Friday. The weather office also said that thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Yamunanagar, Karnal, Rajaund, Assandh, Safidon. 

8. Delhi HC to hear Google's plea today 

The Delhi High Court Thursday agreed to hear a plea by Internet giant Google protesting against the alleged leak of information to media relating to an ongoing investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) into Google's Android smartphone agreements. 

9. Herculean task for Indian women's team to counter Australia and save series 

Indian women's team batting coach Shiv Sunder Das on Thursday promised a different approach to counter Australian bowlers and backed out-of-form opener Smriti Mandhana to come good in the second ODI against the hosts Australia in Mackay. 

10. RCB seek return to winning ways against resilient CSK 

Star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore would look to shrug off the crushing defeat in the previous outing and get their mojo back when they take on Mahendra Singh Dhoni's resilient Chennai Super Kings in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, in Sharjah on Friday.
