1. Kovind to present President's Colour to naval aviation President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Goa on September 5 for his three-day-long visit to the State. President Kovind will present the President's Colour to naval aviation on the morning of September 6 during the event being hosted by INS Hansa, a naval air station located near Dabolim. 2. In show of strength, Pilot supporters to plant 10 lakh sapling across Rajasthan Former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot's supporters plan to plant 10 lakh saplings on September 6 ahead of his birthday, in a drive which is also meant to convey that the Congress leader enjoys the support of people throughout Rajasthan. The Congress leader turns 44 on September 7. His supporters claimed that it will be a record-breaking exercise, surpassing the single-day record of 6.11 lakh saplings, which were planted in 2009 in Dungarpur by a team of volunteers led by the then District Collector. 3. COVID-19 curfew in Goa extended till Sept. 13 The Goa government extended the coronavirus-induced curfew till September 13. In a notification issued, the State administration announced the extension of the curfew till 7 a.m. on September 13. "As part of the curfew, the State government has retained the restrictions that are currently in force," a senior official said. 4. Zuma medical parole 'preferential treatment' to be raised in Parliament Opposition political parties in South Africa are going to raise the issue of alleged preferential treatment in granting former president Jacob Zuma medical parole while other prisoners requesting such parole have even died in prison after being refused this in their Parliament. The Department of Correctional Services announced earlier on September 5 that Zuma is to be released on medical parole less than two months after starting a 15-month sentence for contempt of court, amid speculation as to whether he has a terminal illness. 5. Partial lockdown in Aizawl extended till Sept. 18 The Mizoram government has extended partial lockdown in Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) area and certain COVID-related restrictions in other parts of the State till September 18, with a few relaxations in the curbs, an official said. 6. Shetti takes out 'padyatra' in Kolhapur to seek relief for farmers; to meet Maha CM on Sept. 6 Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna (SSS) leader Raju Shetti on September 5 took out a 'padyatra' (foot march) in Kolhapur district, seeking loan waiver and other reliefs for farmers, who were hit by the recent floods in parts of western Maharashtra. Speaking to PTI, Mr. Shetti said, "The State government, through the sub-divisional magistrate of Ichalkaranji circle, issued me a letter which said that we have been invited to Mumbai for a meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at his official bungalow 'Varsha' on Monday." 7. No surprises expected in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad No major surprises are expected when chief selector Muhammad Wasim announces the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup on September 6.
