Afghan government to be announced today, says Taliban spokesperson The formation of a new Afghan government by the Taliban, which was to be announced on Friday, has now been delayed by a day, according to the spokesman of the insurgents Zabiullah Mujahid. 2. Light rains likely in Delhi today The IMD has also issued a green alert for Sunday and yellow alert from Monday to Thursday. 3. Zila parishad, panchayat polls in Raj: Counting of votes begins today Election Commissioner P S Mehra said polls were held to elect 200 zila parishad members, 1,564 panchayat samiti members, 6 zila pramukhs and their deputies, and 78 pradhans, up-pradhans in six districts. Of these, one zila parishad member and 26 panchayati samiti members have been elected unopposed, he said. 4. States give varied responses to EC on timing of bypolls, Covid restrictions At least six of the 16 states where Lok Sabha and assembly bypolls are due are learnt to have responded in writing to the Election Commission on the "timing and manner" of the exercise amid the pandemic, sources aware of the development said on Friday. The Commission received responses from at least six states by Friday evening and submissions from other states were expected either tonight or by Saturday, the sources said. 5. Association of retired CAPF personnel meets President Kovind A delegation of retired central armed police forces (CAPFs) personnel on Saturday met President Ram Nath Kovind and submitted a memorandum seeking a host of benefits for the veterans and serving officials of these organisations. The association sought the President's intervention for establishing an 'ardh sena flag day fund' like in the armed forces and expansion of Central Government Health Services (CGHS) dispensaries in rural areas where a large number of veterans and families of these forces like the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB reside. 6. Dengue, viral fever death toll climbs to 50 in Firozabad; central team takes stock of situation The death toll due to dengue and viral fever in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district mounted to 50 on Friday, even as a central government team reached here to take stock of the situation, officials said. Three fresh fatalities were reported in Firozabad as the inflow of patients continued in hospitals of the district in the grip of the epidemic. 7.
