1. Rahul Gandhi invites leaders of opposition parties to meet to chalk out strategy on Pegasus row

 

Amid the ongoing stalemate in Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has invited leaders of opposition parties to a breakfast meeting at the Constitution Club on Tuesday to chalk out a joint strategy on the Pegasus snooping issue. Sources said the meeting is being held to forge unity among the opposition ranks on the issue.

2. Karnataka cabinet expansion discussed in detail with BJP chief; final list expected on Tuesday: CM

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said a detailed discussion was held with BJP president J P Nadda on the expansion of his cabinet and the final list is expected on Tuesday. Once the list of new ministers is finalised, the day of the oath-taking ceremony will be decided after discussion with Karnataka BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, he said.

3. SC orders immediate inclusion of Paralympian shooter Naresh Kumar for Tokyo games

In a major victory for shooter Naresh Kumar Sharma before firing a shot in the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics, the Supreme Court Monday ordered the PCI to immediately include the five-time Paralympian as an additional participant for the sporting mega-event in Japan. Taking note of the urgency of the Sharma's petition, the bench ordered communication of the order to the Paralympics Committee of India (PCI) through e-mail and sought a compliance report by Tuesday.

4. Delhi records maximum temperature of 32.7 deg C; light rain likely on Tuesday

The national capital is likely to witness a light spell of rainfall on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said here. The city recorded 18.1 mm downpour at Palam till 5.30 pm on Monday, it said.

5. Bangladesh keen to impress against weakened Australia side

Bangladesh is keen to make its first bilateral T20 International series against Australia a memorable one, playing a fearless brand of cricket. The five-match series begins on Tuesday and Bangladesh is high on confidence following the Test, ODI and T20 series victory over Zimbabwe last month.

6. American star Simone Biles to return for balance beam finals

Simone Biles is returning to competition in Tokyo. The 2016 Olympic champion will compete in the balance beam finals on Tuesday, a little over a week after stepping away from the meet to focus on her mental health.

7. Tokyo Olympics | India loses 2-5 to Belgium in semis but still in hunt for bronze

 

The Indian men's hockey team's dream of entering the Olympics final after 41-years remained unfulfilled as it lost 2-5 to world champions Belgium in the last-four stage but the side is still in the hunt for a bronze in the Tokyo Games here on Tuesday.
