1. SC to hear on Friday appeals of Delhi Police against HC order on bail to three student activists

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Friday the appeals of Delhi Police challenging the Delhi High Court verdicts granting bail to three student activists in a case related to the last year's communal violence in north-east Delhi during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

2. IMA to hold country-wide protest on June 18 against assault of doctors

Indian Medical Association (IMA) will hold a protest on June 18 against assault on doctors, with the slogan of 'save the saviors'.  It termed "extremely disturbing" a series of violence against doctors in the last two weeks in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and other places.

 

3. Assam Cabinet decision today on cancelling Board exams

A final decision by the Assam government cancellation of the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. would be taken on June 18 at a meeting between the Education Department and various stakeholders.

4. Calcutta HC may hear Mamata's plea against Nandigram poll result

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has moved the Calcutta High Court challenging the election results at the Nandigram Assembly constituency.  The court is likely to hear the plea today.

5. Rumblings in Karnataka BJP wide open

Party State in-charge Arun Singh may meet some legislators on Friday, before taking part in the State BJP core committee meeting scheduled in the evening.

6. Iran presidential election on Friday

Iran's presidential election Friday will determine who will lead the country's civilian government as tensions remain high between the Islamic Republic and the West over its tattered nuclear deal with world powers.

 

7. WTC Final: Kohli eyes legacy, Williamson prize for consistency in battle of equals

Virat Kohli carries the expectations of a billion while cricket romantics will pin their hopes on Kane Williamson when India and New Zealand engage in a battle to create a lasting legacy in pristine whites in the inaugural World Test Championship final starting at Southampton on Friday.

8. Mizoram to announce Class 12 results today

The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) will declare the HSSLC or Class 12 results on June 18, Friday. The MBSE HSSLC result 2021 will be announced on the official website.

9. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments

More than 2.18 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses are available with States and Union Territories, and over 56,70,350 more are in the pipeline and will be received by them in the next three days, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday, June 17,2021. The number of positive coronavirus cases in India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 62,375, taking the tally in the country to 2,97,61,964 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 3,83,521.
