1. President's U.P. visit

 

On Monday, President Ramnath Kovind will board a train at Kanpur Central railway station to reach Lucknow for his two-day visit. On June 29, he will return to New Delhi on a special flight. This is the first time the President is visiting his birthplace after taking over the post. It is after a gap of 15 years that an incumbent President is making a train journey.

2. Bengal post-poll violence | NHRC panel to receive representations from complainants

An NHRC committee, which was constituted on the direction of the Calcutta High Court to look into allegations of human rights violations in the wake of post-poll violence in West Bengal, has been receiving representations from complainants from Sunday, an official said. The members of the committee would meet the victims/complainants at the Staff Officer Mess of the CRPF at Salt Lake from 10 a.m. on Monday.

3. Protesting farmers to mark 'Kisan Mazdoor Bhaichara Diwas'

 

Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday demanded the withdrawal of cases registered against farmers during their protest marches on June 26 to mark seven months of their agitation against the Centre's three farm laws. The protesting farmers will mark Monday as Kisan Mazdoor Bhaichara Diwas at Sunehra protest site near the Haryana-Rajasthan border

4. Mahakaleshwar temple to reopen on after 80 days

The famous Mahakaleshwar temple at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh will reopen for devotees on Monday after a gap of 80 days, a member of its management committee said.

5. Tamil Nadu government allows re-opening of textile showrooms, jewellery shops in 23 districts

 

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday allowed the re-opening of textile showrooms and jewellery shops in 23 districts of the State from June 28, as part of the relaxation in lockdown norms.

6. 'Level 3' restrictions in Pune municipal areas from today

All malls and auditoriums will remain closed beginning June 28 in Pune in Maharashtra with the municipal corporation imposing fresh restrictions under the level-3 category.

7. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments

India administered 1.64 million new doses of COVID-19 vaccines until 9 p.m. on Sunday. Rajasthan recorded the highest number of vaccinations (0.24 million) followed by Gujarat (0.22 million) and Chhattisgarh (0.17 million). The number of positive coronavirus cases in India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 45,217, taking the tally in the country to 3,02,77,659 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 3,96,741.
