1. India-U.S. to carry out two-day mega naval drill in Indian Ocean from today

The Indian Navy will participate in a two-day mega naval exercise with the U.S. naval carrier strike group Ronald Reagan in the Indian Ocean region from Wednesday, in reflection of the growing operational cooperation between the two navies, officials said.

2. Karnataka to launch 2,500 smart classrooms

Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will launch 2,500 smart classrooms and distribute Tablet PCs to 1.55 lakh students of higher education on June 23.

3. Haryana BJP's special campaign for vaccination awareness

 

Haryana BJP president Omprakash Dhankhar on Tuesday said the party would start a special campaign from Wednesday to create awareness and motivate people to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

4. China to hold Asia Pacific Ministers meet to discuss BRI projects

China has convened a key ministerial conference of Asia Pacific countries on Wednesday to discuss cooperation of its Belt Road Initiative (BRI), days after G7 countries headed by the U.S. announced plans to "Build Back Better World" (B3W) to counter Beijing's multi-billion-dollar infrastructure development initiative.

5. Catalan separatists eye freedom after Spain's Cabinet pardon

Nine Catalan separatist leaders jailed for sedition were eyeing freedom from Wednesday, after Spain's Cabinet pardoned them in the hope of starting what Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called a much-needed reconciliation in the country's restive northeast.

India's vaccine against COVID-19 Covaxin is set to get closer to World Health Organization approval with a pre-submission meeting for its emergency use listing scheduled for today by the organisation.

7. Independent MLAs supporting Ashok Gehlot govt to meet in Jaipur

Amid a political turmoil in the Rajasthan Congress, a meeting of Independent MLAs supporting the Ashok Gehlot government will be held in Jaipur today. The meeting has been called to discuss the current political situation in the State, the Independent legislators said.

8. Ahead of IPO, India Pesticides raises ₹240 crore from anchor investors

Agrochemical company India Pesticides on Tuesday said it has raised ₹240 crore from anchor investors, ahead of its initial share sale that will open for public subscription on Wednesday.

9. Word Test Championship Final, reserve sixth day

 

India was 64 for two in 30 overs in its second innings at stumps on the fifth day of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand here on Tuesday. The reserve sixth day will be utilised on June 23 as the two teams seek a clear winner.

10. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments

Until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, over 52.8 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in India which is only the second instance when the number of doses in a single day crossed the 50 lakh mark. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India crossed the 3 crore mark and stood at 3,00,26,196 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 3,90,644.
