1. Stalin invites leaders of legislature parties to discuss COVID-19 situation

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has invited leaders of legislature parties to deliberate on measures to tackle the spike in COVID-19 spread and a meeting would be held on Thursday, the government said.

2. Justice Chandrachud tests positive for COVID-19, SC hearing in suo motu case deferred

Supreme Court judge Justice D.Y. Chandrachud has tested positive for COVID-19, the apex court sources said on Wednesday. The top court, meanwhile, issued a notice which said the scheduled hearing on Thursday before a three-judge bench headed by Justice Chandrachud in the suo motu case for ensuring distribution of essential supplies and services during the COVID-19 pandemic stands deferred as one of the judges of the bench has "tested positive" for coronavirus

3. Odd-even system for vehicles in Kamrup Metropolitan district to check COVID-19

In order to reduce traffic movement and dissuade people from venturing out amidst the pandemic, the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration will implement an odd-even system implemented for all vehicles from Thursday, an official order said.

4. SC Commission head Sampla on two-day Bengal visit after complaints of atrocities

Taking a serious note of complaints of atrocities on Dalits in West Bengal, National Commission for Schedule Castes chairman Vijay Sampla will visit the state for two days starting Thursday. He will be visiting the complainants and victims in their villages to make an on the spot assessment of the incidents.

5. Court order on 'Khan Chacha' owner's anticipatory bail on Thursday

A Delhi Court will pronounce on Thursday the order on the anticipatory bail plea filed by businessman Navneet Kalra in connection with the seizure of oxygen concentrators, required by COVID-19 patients, from his upscale restaurants including ''Khan Chacha'' in the national capital. Additional Session Judge Sandeep Garg reserved the order on the pre-arrest bail for Thursday at 10 am after hearing the arguments of both the prosecution and defense at length.

6. Nepali Congress to stake claim to form next govt.

The Nepali Congress has decided to stake a claim for the Prime Minister's post and is engaged in hectic parleys with other parties to conclude a deal ahead of Thursday's deadline issued by the President to political parties to form a new government

7. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments

India recorded 3,62,240 new COVID-19 cases on May 12. As many as 4,126 new deaths were also registered. The country has so far reported a total of 2,37,02,832 cases and 2,58,351 deaths.
