1. HC rebukes Delhi government over black marketing of oxygen cylinders and medicines

The Delhi High Court came down heavily on the Delhi government over its "failure" to check black marketing of oxygen cylinders and crucial medicines needed by COVID-19 patients and said if it cannot handle the situation, it will ask the Centre to take over gas refiller units as it can't let people die. The court directed the government to file an affidavit on the status of oxygen stocks available with gas refillers by Wednesday morning.

2. 15 BRO workers killed in Sumna avalanche from Jharkhand

Talks have been held with the Jharkhand government for handing over the bodies to their families and it is likely to be done by Wednesday through the BRO, Chamoli District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria said.

3. SC asks U.P. to submit medical records of journalist Siddique Kappan

A Bench of Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and A.S. Bopanna asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the State government, to file the medical records of journalist Siddique Kappan who was jailed last year by Wednesday. Kerala Union of Working Journalists alleged that Kappan has been chained to a cot in the hospital he was admitted to after falling in the bathroom and later testing positive for COVID-19.

4. HC tells Bengal to demolish illegal constructions on Teesta river bed at Jalpaiguri

The Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court Tuesday asked the West Bengal government to demolish illegal constructions, including pubs and restaurants, on the river bed of Teesta in front of residential buildings of the judges at Jalpaiguri within 24 hours. Justice Bharadwaj asked the district magistrate, the SP and chief medical officer, Jalpaiguri to file reports on the matter before the court on Wednesday.

5. Iran nuclear talks resume in Vienna amid new complications

World powers resumed high-level talks in Vienna on Tuesday focused on bringing the United States back into the nuclear deal with Iran, in their first session since comments surfaced from the Iranian foreign minister alleging that Russia once tried to scupper the pact. China's delegate Wang Qun told reporters that discussions would continue on Wednesday.

6. Tokyo Olympic organisers to hold 5-party meeting, brief on 'playbooks'

Tokyo Olympic organisers will hold a five-party meeting on version two of the "playbooks", which serve as a guide for COVID-19 countermeasures during the Games, followed by a Tokyo 2020 news conference and a joint press briefing by Tokyo, IOC and IPC officials. The five parties are the Tokyo 2020 organising committee, the Government of Japan, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

7. IPL | Purring CSK up against out-of-sorts SRH

After creaking last season, the rejuvenated Chennai Super Kings is motoring along like a well-oiled machine this season. Sunrisers Hyderabad, in contrast, has been struggling. It is unable to cross the finish line in close games; SRH has four defeats in five games. But the, SRH has the opportunity to find some form and momentum when it meets CSK in New Delhi's Feroze Shah Kotla ground today.

8. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments

The number of positive coronavirus cases in India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 3,62,757, taking the tally in the country to 1,79,82,524, at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 2,01,024.
