1. Farmer leaders say they will completely block Chilla border, between Delhi and Noida, on Wednesday
Hardening their stance on the three new agri laws, farmer leaders Tuesday said they will “make” government repeal these legislations, and asserted their fight has reached a stage where they are “determined” to win it no matter what. They said they will completely block the Chilla Border between Delhi and Noida on Wednesday to press for their demands.
2. Union Cabinet to meet on December 16

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday light up 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaal' from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial here marking the 50th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in 1971. Four victory mashaals (flaming torches) will be lit from the eternal flame and they will be carried to various parts of India, including to the villages of Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees of the 1971 war, the defence ministry said in a statement.
5. Counting of votes in Kerala local body elections to be held on Wednesday Counting of postal votes of Kozhikode Corporation at Nadakkavu HSS in Kozhikode on Wednesday
The counting process will start at 8am across the state and the results are expected to be out by noon. Given the COVID-19 situation in the State, the State Election Commission has urged political parties to tone down their victory celebrations. The COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed at the counting centres also.
6. 7th phase DDC elections: Over 6 lakh voters to decide fate of 298 candidates on Wednesday
More than six lakh voters will decide the fate of 298 candidates including 72 women contesting in the seventh phase of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A total of 31 DDC constituencies will go to polls including 13 in Kashmir division and 18 in Jammu division, state election commissioner (SEC) K K Sharma told reporters here.
7. Tomar to address kisan sammelan in Gwalior on Wednesday Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. File
Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will address a 'kisan sammelan' in Gwalior on Wednesday. The rally is part of the BJP's reach out to farmers amid continuing protest on Delhi border by farmer unions against three farm laws enacted by the government in September. BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia will also be present in the programme.
8. Cabinet may consider Rs 3,600 cr sugar export subsidy on Wednesday
The Union Cabinet may on Wednesday consider a proposal to provide export subsidy worth Rs 3,600 crore to sugar mills for the marketing year 2020-21, as part of its efforts to help them clear outstanding dues to sugarcane farmers, according to sources. The food ministry has proposed Rs 3,600 crore subsidy for exports of 60 lakh tonnes of sugar in the marketing year 2020-21 (October-September), they added.
