1. Tuesday's Bharat Bandh draws more support; Centre issues advisory; BJP slams opposition A nationwide strike on Tuesday called by agitating farmer unions to press for repeal of the Centre's agri laws is likely to have an impact in some northern states after several trade unions extended support to it even as the farmer leaders said that no one should be forced to join the shutdown. With almost all opposition parties too backing the 'Bharat Bandh' and many announcing parallel protests in support of the farmers, the Centre has issued an advisory directing all the states and Union Territories to tighten security and ensure peace is maintained.
2. Markets, transport sector to remain open on Tuesday: CAIT, AITWA Traders' body CAIT and All India Transporters Welfare Association on Monday said markets across the country including in Delhi will remain open on Tuesday and the transport sector will function as usual, notwithstanding the "Bharat Bandh" call by protesting farmers. Thousands of farmers protesting against the Centre's new agri laws for the past 11 days here have called on people to join their "Bharat Bandh" or nation-wide shutdown call on Tuesday in large numbers.
3. Britain gears up to roll out vaccine on Tuesday Britain geared up to become the first country to roll out the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, as southern California locked down 20 million people to ease the burden on hospitals struggling with record cases.
4. AAP to hold peaceful demonstration in support of Bharat Bandh on Dec 8: Gopal Rai The Aam Aadmi Party will hold a peaceful demonstration in the national capital on Tuesday in support of the 'Bharat Bandh' called by farmer unions protesting on Delhi's borders demanding the repeal of the Centre's new agri-marketing laws, said party leader and Delhi minister Gopal Rai. The party has extended its support to the 'Bharat Bandh' and Mr. Rai appealed to all citizens to extend their support to it.
5. Maharashtra: Ruling Shiv Sena, NCP and Cong support Bharat bandh The ruling Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are among the key parties from Maharashtra to support Tuesday's 'Bharat Bandh' called by peasants' bodies which have been opposing the Centre's farm laws. Speaking to reporters here, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut urged people to take part in the "non-political" bandh to support farmers.
6. Central team to visit Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday to investigate mysterious disease A central team will visit Andhra Pradesh to investigate a mysterious disease that has begun spreading in the state's Eluru city claiming one life and affecting around 350 people so far. According to an office memorandum issued by the Union Health Ministry, the team will reach Eluru on Tuesday.
7. PM Modi to address India Mobile Congress on Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the virtual India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 on Tuesday, the Prime Minister's Office said. IMC 2020 is being organised by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). It will be held from December 8-10, 2020, the PMO said in a statement.
8. Japan government likely to decide new economic measures on Tuesday The Japanese government is likely to decide on new economic measures totalling roughly 7.3 billion yen ($70 million) on Tuesday, NHK public television reported on Monday. The economic measures will include those dealing with preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus as well as shifting towards building a post-pandemic economy, NHK added.
9. Nepal to announce revised height of Mt Everest on Tuesday After working for a year on processing data regarding the measurement of the world's highest peak, Nepal on Tuesday will announce the newly-measured height of Mount Everest. Sending an invitation to all media outlets and representatives, the Department of Survey, which undertook the measures on Sunday informed about the planned event to announce the new height.
10. Aus vs Ind third T20I: Kohli and team look to complete whitewash In their final white-ball game of 2020, set to be played on Tuesday, Virat Kohli and his team would have the opportunity to white-wash hosts Australia in the shortest format. The Men in Blue have won the first two T20Is of the ongoing three-match series, and now the side would look to remain unbeaten in the shortest format. With the T20 World Cup set to be played in India next year, the visitors will look to outclass the hosts in their own backyard.
11. Pakistan squad clears fifth COVID test, to leave managed isolation on Tuesday The touring Pakistan squad has returned negative in a fifth round of COVID-19 tests and will now be able to leave their managed isolation on Tuesday, subject to clearance from the health ministry, New Zealand Cricket said on Monday. The 53-member Pakistan team was denied the right to train while in managed isolation in New Zealand after eight members of the touring squad had tested positive for COVID-19.
