Bihar poll results | NDA gets simple majority A stellar performance by the BJP enabled the ruling NDA to attain a simple majority in the Bihar Assembly notwithstanding a sharp fall in the tally of the JD(U) headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, according to final results announced early Wednesday. 2. SC to hear Arnab Goswami bail plea on Wednesday Within hours of filing of Mr. Goswami’s appeal against the Bombay High Court’s rejection of his bail plea, the apex court registry listed it for hearing by a vacation bench of Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and Indira Banerjee. The plea, filed through lawyer Nirnimesh Dubey, would be heard at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday. 3. No-confidence motion against Conrad Sangma govt in Meghalaya The motion, moved by the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Mukul Sangma, along with 10 other legislators will be taken up for deliberation at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. 4. Preparations in place for resuming local train services in Bengal Eastern Railway will operate 413 suburban trains in the Sealdah division and 202 more in the Howrah division everyday from Wednesday. 5. Sri Lankan Navy arrests 4 Indian fishermen from T.N. Meanwhile, 14 fishermen belonging to Karaikal district of Puducherry, who drifted to Sri Lankan territory due to a snag in their boat were rescued by the Navy of the island nation. All are being sent back home and are expected to reach on Wednesday, a report from Karaikal said. 6. Soumitra Chatterjee to undergo tracheotomy on Wednesday With the health condition of iconic actor Soumitra Chatterjee, admitted in a city private hospital for over a month, remaining critical doctors treating him have decided to conduct tracheotomy on him on Wednesday. 7. Delhi HC seeks Amazon reply on Future Retail plea to restrain it from interfering in Reliance deal The arguments on behalf of Amazon will continue on Wednesday. 8. Jharkhand Assembly session to pass special resolution on Sarna code for tribals The Jharkhand government has decided to convene a special Assembly session on November 11 to pass a resolution for the provision of a separate Sarna Code for tribals in the State and forward it to the Centre. The resolution will seek a special column for followers of the Sarna religion in the Census, 2021. At present, they are not classified as a separate entity. 9. Arjun Rampal to appear before NCB for questioning The Narcotics Control Bureau had carried out a search at the residence of the actor on Monday as part of its probe into alleged drug use in Bollywood. 10. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 86,32,502 at the time of publishing this newsletter.
