With Election Day just days away, a major issue is the role of technology and social media in the spread of misinformation to shape the way voters view the world. This was the topic of conversation with former chief security expert of Facebook John Stamos (and current director of the Stanford Internet Observatory) at our Technology Executive Council (TEC) Summit on Thursday, who said the steady stream of misinformation was a huge problem for the democratic process and technology companies alike. More on that below.
The threat of cyberattacks goes beyond politics. Akamai Technologies has tracked a doubling in cyberattacks, and with the surge of remote (and presumably less secure) work, hackers are taking advantage. Legendary mathematician, entrepreneur and technologist Tom Leighton (and co-founder of Akamai) joined Thursday's TEC summit, as well. Watch his full interview for an in-depth discussion on securing the digital economy.
You can watch more interviews from the TEC event, plus, a few other stories that caught our eye this week featured below. Coming up: an exploration of the biggest brands undergoing the most disruptive transformations to stay ahead, request an invitation to join the CNBC Evolve Summit on November 10th. Newest addition to the lineup: Metallica founding member Lars Ulrich talking the digital evolution of music.
