1. Oxford vaccine trial put on hold over safety concern AstraZeneca Plc has put a hold on the late-stage trial of its highly-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine candidate after a suspected serious adverse reaction in a study participant, health news website Stat News reported on Tuesday, according to Reuters
2. SC continues hearing on airlines ticket refund case The court had earlier said airlines had to be heard before any decision was taken on refund of flights booked during lockdown. The government has said that the fee for all flights booked in this period should be refunded to customers or a credit shell be given.
3. PM Modi to hold 'Svanidhi Samvaad' with MP street vendors The Centre had launched PM SVANidhi scheme on June 1 to help poor street vendors, impacted by COVID-19, resume livelihood activities.
4. WB Assembly begins two day session from Wednesday as COVID-19 cases rise Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that so far 24 police personnel have succumbed to the contagious viral infection in the State so far. Of the deceased nine are Kolkata Police personnel and 15 are from West Bengal police. Ms Banerjee said that the State government is giving jobs to one person from each of the 24 families. There will be no question hour in the two day Assembly session.
5. Delhi Metro's Blue Line, Pink Line to resume services from Wednesday after 171-day hiatus Delhi Metro's Blue Line and Pink Line are set to resume operations on Wednesday after being closed for 171 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said. On Monday, the Delhi Metro had resumed services on its Yellow Line, with curtailed operations and a slew of measures for safety of passengers and employees. Metro services in Delhi-NCR were closed since March 22 due to the pandemic.
6. Excise dept to ensure bars in hotels, clubs, restaurants follow COVID safety norms after reopening With bars in hotels, clubs and restaurants set to reopen in Delhi on Wednesday, the excise department will keep a strict vigil to ensure strict compliance of COVID-19 guidelines by these establishments. Officials said violation of norms could lead to sealing of premises or cancellation of licence by the department.
7. After fresh tensions in Ladakh, China says it hopes for disengagement as soon as possible As a fresh border confrontation erupted between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh, China on Tuesday hoped disengagement can be achieved as soon as possible through mutual consultations, flagging approaching harsh winter in the region.
8. EAM Jaishankar on a four-day visit to Russia - followup On his way to Russia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday made a stopover in Tehran and held talks with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif, covering various aspects of bilateral relations and regional developments. Jaishankar described the meeting as "productive".
