Congress panel to meet on floor strategy Congress president Sonia Gandhi will formulate the party’s Parliament plan on Tuesday at a meeting of the strategy group she has called ahead of the monsoon session starting from September 14. 3. WHO panel on response to COVID-19 pandemic to begin work on Tuesday: Tedros The World Health Organization (WHO) review committee established to assess the performance of its International Health Regulations during the global coronavirus pandemic will begin its work today, the health body's director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said. "Tomorrow, the review committee of the International Health Regulations will begin its work. The International Health Regulation is the most important legal instrument in global health security. As a reminder, the review committee will evaluate the functioning of the IHR during the pandemic so far and recommend any changes it believes are necessary," Tedros said during a press briefing on Monday.
4. Jaishankar scheduled to leave for Russia today External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is likely to have a stopover in Iran on Tuesday on his way to a four-day visit to Russia, where he is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, people familiar with the developments said. Jaishankar is visiting Moscow to attend a meeting of foreign ministers of the eight-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) of which both India and China are members. 5. After adjourning on Monday, Telangana Assembly session to continue on Tuesday Telangana Assembly Speaker P Srinivas Reddy on Monday adjourned the House for Tuesday after the members unanimously passed two separate condolence motions mourning the deaths of former president Pranab Mukherjee and sitting TRS MLA S Ramalinga Reddy who died recently. 6. Metro services resume in several cities amid COVID-19 measures; Passengers cautious - follow up After remaining shut for over five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, metro train services resumed in most of the cities on Monday on a cautious note amid a slew of measures for the safety of passengers and staff.
