After a two-and-a-half hour long meeting that went into the night in Moscow, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said they have agreed on a five point course of action to de-escalate the four month long standoff between troops at the Line of Actual Control. "The two Foreign Ministers agreed that the current situation in the border areas is not in the interest of either side. They agreed therefore that the border troops of both sides should continue their dialogue, quickly disengage, maintain proper distance and ease tensions," a joint press statement issued after the meeting said. 2. India likely had 6.4 million infections in May: ICMR survey For every confirmed case of COVID-19 in May, there were 82-130 infections that went undetected and India potentially had 6.4 million infections that month, say the results of the first sero-survey conducted by scientists of the Indian Council of Medical Research. 3. Modi to address conclave on school education under NEP-2020 on Friday The Ministry of Education is organising the two-day conclave, which started on Thursday, as a part of the "Shiksha Parv", the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement. 4. COVID-19 surveillance | Railways tender for thermal cameras to be opened Friday The cameras that detect a passenger's body temperature have helped Central Railways, one of the few zones to have such cameras, to deny boarding to around 30 passengers since they were installed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) from June-end. 5. Maratha quota | Thackeray holds meeting with Cabinet panel A statement issued by PWD Minister Ashok Chavan's office said that before deciding the further course of action, deliberations will be held with representatives of the Maratha community, lawyers and experts in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday. 6. NCB opposes bail pleas of Rhea, brother; court order today Special Judge G.B. Gurao, presiding over cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), also heard pleas filed by four other arrested accused in the case. The court said it will pass its order on the bail pleas on Friday. 7. RJD's Manoj Jha to be joint opposition candidate for RS deputy chairman poll Mr. Jha will file his nomination papers on Friday in presence of leaders of various opposition parties. 8. States' startup ecosystem ranking to be released on Friday The rankings are based on the initiatives taken to develop the startup ecosystem for promoting budding entrepreneurs.
