Japan PM Abe, Cabinet resign ahead of new leadership Outgoing Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Cabinet resigned Wednesday morning, clearing the way for his successor to take over after parliamentary confirmation later in the day. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, long seen as Abe's right-hand man, was chosen Monday as the new head of the governing Liberal Democratic Party, virtually guaranteeing his election as Prime Minister in a parliamentary on vote Wednesday because of the party's majority. 2. Onion export ban: Maharashtra Congress to protest against Centre The Maharashtra Congress will stage a statewide protest on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of the Centre's "unjust" decision to ban export of onions, state revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat said.

Iraqi Foreign Minister to meet with NATO chief on Wednesday Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will meet on Wednesday in Brussels, the military bloc said in a statement on Tuesday. "The NATO Secretary General, Mr Jens Stoltenberg will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Mohammad Hussein, on Wednesday, 16 September 2020 at NATO Headquarters," the statement read. 5.
