The last time Canada reported zero daily fatalities from Covid-19 was on March 15, according to the latest data from its public health agency. 2. Uber is promising to expand its "Green" program by targeting 100% emissions-free rides by 2040. The ride-hailing company also made an $800 million to help drivers go electric by 2025 and partnerships with GM and Renault to keep electric vehicles affordable. 3. Amazon is hiring 100,000 full and part-time employees across the U.S. and Canada, offering starting wages of at least $15 an hour. The new jobs include benefits and sign-on bonuses of as much as $1,000 in select cities and access to training programs for career development.  4. Lego is investing $400 million over three years to reduce its carbon emissions and plastic use. Europe's biggest toymaker is phasing out the individual plastic bags that hold the Lego box sets' building blocks. Starting next year, Lego will test the use of paper bags instead. 5. Singapore will pay its citizens to stay healthy with the Apple Watch. Apple and the government of Singapore have partnered on a 2-year health initiative called LumiHealth, which is built around tracking and rewarding user behavior through the Apple Watch and an iPhone app.  6. This tech startup is helping students and families of all backgrounds that can't afford expensive tech like tablets or laptops. Students only need pencil, paper, and a smartphone to complete and submit a picture of their work which Bakpax automatically grades. 7. Sister Stephanie Baliga is raising money for the poor by running the equivalent of the Chicago Marathon on a treadmill. To continue raising money for the Chicago community, the church streamed the solo 26.2-mile race on August 23.  8. For the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower's Atlantic Ocean crossing, a new, crewless ship has set sail. The Mayflower Autonomous will collect data on global warming, plastic pollution, and mammal conservation from Plymouth to Cape Cod. 9. Two bakers turned a slow business during the coronavirus pandemic into a thriving one, with the help of social media. Alison and Cony, the bakers behind Hong Kong's Dear Harley Cake Studio, created hyper-realistic illusion cakes that spurred the cake memes you've seen all over the internet. 10. Welcome to Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, the world's first Apple Store to sit directly on the water.
