He's also up against a deadline. The Democratic National Convention is next week. He needs to make his pick soon so the party and his running mate have time to prepare.   So, who's it going to be? Speculation has been intense since Biden effectively nailed down the Democratic nomination with dominant showings in the South Carolina and in major primaries throughout March. His pledge to pick a woman added to the intrigue.   CNBC profiled several of the contenders to be Biden's running mate. Here are links to stories about the major players: California Sen.
