Supreme Court verdict on UGC's July 6 circular on final term examination The Supreme Court will pronounce the verdict on the pleas challenging University Grants Commission's July 6 circular on conducting the final term university examinations in the wake of novel coronavirus pandemic. 2. Congress to hold nationwide protest for postponing JEE, NEET amid pandemic  State units of the Congress will hold demonstrations in front of all central government offices at State and district headquarters at 11 a.m. In a statement AICC general secretary, K.C. Venugopal said the move is in line with concerted opposition to this "dictatorial move" of the government. 3. Rains resume, 1 dead as house collapses in Madhya Pradesh; IMD issues alerts The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert stating that extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in four districts of eastern Madhya Pradesh - Balaghat, Tikamgarh, Damoh and Sagar till Friday morning. 4. Parts of U.P. receive light to moderate rainfall The Met department has forecast rain or thundershower at many places over western Uttar Pradesh and at a few locations in the eastern part of the State on Friday. 5. Heavy rain triggers flood in parts of Odisha, rivers in spate The water level of the Subarnarekha river is rising following the release of floodwater by Jharkhand from Galudiha barrage. As a result, Rajghat in Balasore district is likely to receive a huge volume of water on Friday. 6. Private hospital authorities in West Bengal to meet clinical panel head Around 16 private hospitals in West Bengal have decided to seek more clarity from the State's clinical regulatory panel on its recent advisories regarding revision of bed charges and discount on medicines. 7. Day-long Punjab Assembly session under COVID-19 shadow  Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday appealed to all other legislators who had come in contact with COVID-19 positive legislators to avoid attending the one-day Vidhan Sabha session on Friday. 8. Bombay High Court asks Maharashtra government to grant hearing to Muslim body on Muharram norms The court directed the State to grant the petitioner a fair hearing and to inform the court of its decision on Friday morning. 9. IIT-M coordinating "national efforts to create crash courses" for rural learners  The first broadcast is scheduled for Friday. 10. Banks Board Bureau to interview candidates for SBI Chairman post on Friday There are seven items on the agenda for the meeting of BBB, including upcoming "vacancy" of the Chairman post at SBI, as per the sources. The meeting would be held through video conferencing. 11. Max group to relist Max India on stock exchanges on Friday Max India, which got delisted in June, had recently announced plans to invest Rs. 300 crore over the next four years to develop a housing project for senior living in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, as well as in its new assisted-care services business. 12. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 33,84,716 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 61,715.
