Just when we think 2020 has given us more than we can handle, we're reminded that the U.S. presidential election is less than four months away. With such great anxiety comes great opportunity: for Democrats on climate-change policy, and for Donald Trump's detractors to highlight his widely panned handling of Covid-19. Despite continued economic uncertainty and a pandemic-induced recession, the economy remains the president's strongest suit in polling; though his support has slipped even in that department, plenty of voters have maintained their staunch backing of Trump.
