1) Coronavirus | Latest numbers The number of coronavirus cases in India stands at 2,26,715 with the death toll at 6,350.
2) Final instalment of Rs. 500 to women Jan Dhan a/c holders from Friday: Finance Ministry To help the poor tide over the COVID-19 crisis, the government on March 26 announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 500 to be credited to women Jan Dhan account holders for the next three months starting from April.
3) Central team to survey Amphan-ravaged Bengal, Odisha districts Headed by Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary (Cyber and Information Security), Anuj Sharma, the seven-member team will survey the two worst-affected districts of North and South 24 Parganas to assess the devastation, a senior Bengal government official said. "The team members will be divided into two groups to conduct the survey on Friday. They may conduct an aerial survey or do a ground assessment. But since they have only a day for the purpose, they may take the aerial route," the official said. Two other teams will visit Odisha's Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur districts on Friday.
4) Can coronavirus be transmitted by touch? Bombay High Court asks expert panel "We seek clarification from the expert committee as to whether by mere touch of a person carrying COVID-19 virus, it can be transmitted to the person so touched," the court asked and posted the matter for further hearing on Friday.
5) Three-judge panel to review functioning of the Supreme Court on Friday The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Thursday sought views of its member-lawyers on resumption of regular courtroom proceedings in the Supreme Court which has been holding virtual hearings since March 25 when the COVID-19-induced lockdown was imposed.
6) Babri Masjid demolition | CBI court to record statement of Vinay Katiyar, four others BJP leader Vinay Katiyar, former MP Ram Vilas Vedanti and four other accused appeared before a special CBI court in the Babri demolition case in Lucknow on Thursday. The court, however, recorded the statement of only Vijay Bahadur Singh for want of time and asked the rest to appear before it on Friday. Others who appeared before the court were Pawan Pandey, Santosh Dubey and Gandhi Yadav.
7) Court reserves order on bail plea of jailed AAP MLA A Delhi Court will pronounce on Friday it's order on the interim bail plea of AAP legislator Prakash Jarwal, arrested in connection with a case of alleged suicide of a doctor in south Delhi in April.
8) OIL rushes Singapore experts to control Assam blowout; no casualty "The first attempt to control the well is likely to take place on Friday/Saturday."
9) Shoaib Akhtar summoned to Federal Investigation Agency office in Lahore on Friday The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday clarified that it has not filed any complaint with the cyber crime unit of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against former pacer Shoaib Akhtar, insisting that the charge was made by its legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi in his individual capacity.
