2) Coronavirus | PM videocon with chief ministers on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a video conference with all chief ministers on Thursday during which issues such as ways to contain the spread of COVID-19, movement of migrants and contact tracing of Tablighi Jamaat participants are likely to come up for discussion, sources said on Wednesday.
3) Coronavirus | PIB fact-check portal to go live today The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Information & Broadcasting Ministry has set up a portal, Covid-19 Fact Check Unit, which will be operational from today.
4) Coronavirus | CWC meeting thru videocon at 11 am today The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the party, will meet on Thursday at 11 AM through video conferencing, a senior leader said.
5) Coronavirus | Tourists stuck in Nepal headed back to Australia The Nepal Airlines flight had 222 Australians and 28 New Zealand nationals and permanent residents aboard and is scheduled to arrive in Brisbane on Thursday. Passengers will face a 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
6) Coronavirus | Brazil confirms first indigenous coronavirus case in the Amazon The 19-year-old woman from the Kokama tribe tested positive for the virus in the district of Santo Antonio do Iśŕ, located near the border with Colombia some 880 km up the Amazon river from the state capital Manaus. Health experts warn that the spreading virus could be lethal for Brazil's 850,000 indigenous people.
7) Coronavirus | UN General Assembly to decide on rival COVID-19 resolutions General Assembly President Tijjani Muhammad-Bande sent both resolutions to all member states late Monday afternoon under a so-called silence procedure, saying they had 72 hours until 6 p.m. EDT on Thursday to send an objection, or break silence. One resolution, which has more than 135 co-sponsors, calls for intensified international cooperation to contain, mitigate and defeat the pandemic, the other, sponsored by Russia with support from Central African Republic, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, calls for abandoning trade wars and implementing protectionist measures, and not applying unilateral sanctions without UN Security Council approval.
8) Coronavirus | NATO warns virus must not hurt defence, with eye on Russia Foreign ministers from the 30-strong North Atlantic Alliance will hold video talks on Thursday to discuss their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed 30,000 people in Europe alone.
9) Coronavirus | Botswana announces stricter measures The country’s 2.2 million inhabitants are expected to enter a 28-day period of “extreme social distancing” on Thursday.
