iPad Pro Diary: iPadOS 13 makes the argument for an iPad even stronger
Ben Lovejoy - 10:16 am EDT

I felt that the new-form-factor 12.9-inch iPad dramatically strengthened the argument for an iPad over a laptop for those with relatively basic needs. I did, however, feel compelled to make the case for an iPad-specific version of iOS, so that the software would do justice to the hardware.

While the iPad Pro isn't trying to be a Mac, it is a grown-up device and it needs a grown-up operating system. Not macOS, but rather a tailored version of iOS, designed to take advantage of the additional capabilities of the iPad. What some people have termed padOS.

Kuo: New 'pro' iPad models with mini-LED display coming Q4 2020 – Q1 2021, mini-LED MacBook after
Benjamin Mayo - 5:55 am EDT

In a Chinese language report released by TF Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo over the weekend, the reliable Apple analyst repeats claims that Apple is working on new high-end iPad and MacBook models featuring mini-LED displays.

The iPad and MacBook would use approximately 10,000 LEDs. This number would be far beyond above what the upcoming $6000 Pro Display XDR will use (around 570 for its backlight), with each LED being smaller than 0.2mm.
