As the Society’s Chief Program Officer, I see the impact your Membership Month Challenge gift will have.
I see it in the appreciation of the dedicated educators across the country who, with the help of Society programs like Science News in High Schools and the Advocate Program, are bringing science—and opportunity—to underserved and low-income students. And I see it in the passion and hard work of the students participating in our science and engineering competitions.
When you invest in the Society’s mission, you help foster a more scientifically-literate public and empower the next generation of science leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers. And the more support we receive from dedicated friends like you, the greater the impact we can have.
That’s what our Membership Month Challenge is all about. This is an opportunity for our community to come together to keep science a priority. And I hope we can count on your support.
As a part of Membership Month, we have been challenging our community to come together to help us raise $30,000 by August 31st to support the Society’s innovative programs that are advancing scientific literacy, scientific research, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The generous Contributing Member who made a $20,000 gift towards Membership Month has increased their support due to the overwhelming response of our community— making our new goal $34,000.
As a Contributing Member, you’ll receive exclusive benefits, including a one-year subscription to both the print and digital versions of Science News magazine (23 issues) plus unlimited access to the Science News archives, a “Hungry for Science/I Stand with Science” reusable tote bag, and more!
Equally important, by making a Membership Month donation today, you will support the expert journalism of Science News magazine and help more people understand and appreciate the science that is changing our world. You will empower tomorrow’s science leaders by giving more curious and creative young people the chance to participate in the Society’s three prestigious science education competitions. And you will help create a generation of scientifically-literate students by supporting Science News in High Schools and our Advocate Grant Program, which is bringing science to underserved and low-income communities across the country.
Our most innovative, imaginative, sustainable future is only possible if more people speak the shared language of science. And no one understands that better than you.
That’s why we created this Membership Month Challenge—to rally dedicated friends like you in support of science and science students. But time is quickly running out. So if you have been waiting for the right moment to become a Contributing Member and maximize the impact of your support, today is the day.
