HyperCube backs up your iPhone or iPad to microSD or USB storage while you charge

HyperCube is the latest product from Sanho’s Hyper brand, which we’ve long been big fans of from its excellent USB-C hubs, battery packs, and more. The HyperCube is an adapter for iPhone (or other smartphones) that automatically backs up photos, videos and contacts to a microSD card or USB-drive while you charge your device. It’s available on Kickstarter now for a 40% off special preorder price ahead of launch next month.

Apple finds issue w/ logic board in some 2018 MacBook Airs, offers free repair

Apple has confirmed in an internal document to repair staff that it's identified an issue with the main logic board in what it says is a "very small number" of MacBook Air models. Apple Stores and authorized repair staff have been informed to replace the main logic board in affected machines at no cost to customers, according to the document obtained by 9to5Mac.

OpenID Foundation says Sign In with Apple poses security and privacy risks

At WWDC 2019 earlier this month, Apple unveiled its new Sign In with Apple platform, which gives users a privacy-friendly alternative to sign in platforms from Facebook and Google. This week, however, the OpenID Foundation is questioning some of the decisions Apple made for Sign In with Apple.

Feature Request: Three ways Apple Podcasts could become the ultimate Apple Watch podcast client

Since I am currently training for a marathon later this fall, I've been listening to a lot of podcasts on Apple Watch during my long runs. I've been a heavy podcast listener since before Apple integrated it into the iPod, so being able to listen to them on a watch is a dream come true for me. Pairing Apple Watch with the new Powerbeats Pro is the perfect combination for running.

While I am generally an Overcast user, I have experimented with Apple Podcasts here recently as well. I wrote an article about the best podcast app for Apple Watch that I encourage you to read as well. This week, I want to talk about what Apple could do for Apple Podcasts on watchOS 6 and beyond to improve the experience. more…
