2. Taliban, opposition battle for Panjshir Valley, Pakistan spy chief flies to Kabul 

Taliban and opposition forces were fighting on Saturday for control of the Panjshir Valley north of Kabul, the last province in Afghanistan holding out against the Islamist group, according to reports.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday claimed that thousands of farmers from 15 states have started reaching Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district to participate in 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' on Sunday. 

 
5. Salah joins Egypt for World Cup qualifier in Gabon 

Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah arrived in Gabon to join the Pharaohs for their World Cup qualifying match, the Egyptian soccer association said on Saturday. 

 

6. Below-par India look to raise the level against Nepal in second international friendly 

Held by a lowly Nepal in their last match, the Indian men's football team would settle for nothing less than a victory in the second international friendly against the Himalayan nation in Kathmandu on Sunday. 

 

7. Verstappen takes pole for Netherlands GP ahead of Hamilton 

Dutch driver Max Verstappen sent his Orange Army of fans into raptures after taking a brilliant pole position for the Netherlands Grand Prix on Sunday. 

 
8. Tokyo Paralympics badminton schedule 

  • Pramod Bhagat and his partner Palak Kohli will meet Japanese pair of Daisuke Fujihara and Akiko Sugino in the bronze medal playoff on Sunday 
  • Suhas Yathiraj will face top seed Lucas Mazur of France in the final on Sunday 
  • Krishna Nagar will cross swords with Hong Kong's Chu Man Kai in the final on Sunday
