1. PM Modi to address 76th UNGA session 

PM Narendra Modi will address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Saturday evening. His speech will be live-streamed from 7:30 pm (IST). 

Modi had last addressed the UN General Assembly session in 2019. Last year, world leaders had submitted pre-recorded video statements for the United Nations General Assembly session in September, as heads of state and government could not physically attend the annual gathering due to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

2. PM Modi to address Global Citizen Live event today 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a video address at "Global Citizen Live" on Saturday evening, his office has said. The Prime Minister's Office noted that Global Citizen is an advocacy organisation that is working to end extreme poverty. 

3. Amit Shah to address maiden conference of cooperatives 

Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will address the first mega conference of cooperatives in New Delhi on Saturday, and crores of people linked to these collective bodies across the world will join the programme virtually, the BJP said Friday. 

4. Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal to turn into depression, heavy rains likely in Odisha 

A low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression on Saturday and bring heavy rains in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh over the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. 

5. Aurangabad: 2-day literary meet to begin today 

A two-day Marathi literary meet will begin from Saturday in Aurangabad, one of the organisers said. 

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by the Maharashtra minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan and the closing event will be presided over by minister and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad, a Loksanvad Foundation functionary said on Friday. 

6. IPL | Sunrisers Hyderabad face Punjab Kings in battle of laggards 

Almost out of the reckoning for a play-off berth, bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to play party-poopers when they take on an equally struggling Punjab Kings in the IPL's battle of laggards here on Saturday. 

Sunrisers suffered their seventh defeat on Wednesday after being blown away by Delhi Capitals and their play-off chances look less than dim as they have managed just two points after eight games. 

7. IPL | Delhi Capitals aim for consolidation, RR hope to keep winning momentum going 

Operating like a well-oiled unit, Delhi Capitals will be eager to consolidate their top spot when they clash with a resurgent Rajasthan Royals, who will be keen to keep the winning momentum going in the Indian Premier League here on Saturday. 

8. Archery World Championships: 3 Indians sail into quarters 

Indian archers Ankita Bhakat, Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam kept medal hopes alive in the individual competition by advancing to the quarterfinals of their respective events in the World Championships here. 

India have already confirmed two medals by entering the compound women and mixed finals slated in the early hours of Saturday.
