DDMA likely to take decision on reopening of schools in Delhi The Delhi Disaster Management Authority in its meeting on Friday is expected to discuss and take a decision on reopening of schools here in view of an improved COVID-19 situation, official sources said. The authority's meeting, which will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, will discuss the report of a committee that has recommended opening of schools in a phased manner, starting with students of senior classes, from next month, they said. 4. Heavy rainfall predicted in Kerala IMD has issued yellow alert for 10 districts on Friday. It has also issued heavy rainfall alert for few Kerala districts on Saturday and Sunday. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea areas along the Kerala coast and Lakshadweep area till August 30 as squally weather is likely over these regions. Strong winds are also likely in the southwest and west-central parts of the Arabian Sea. 5. Sonu Sood to meet Delhi CM Actor Sonu Sood is scheduled to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, sources said. The agenda of the meeting is not clear, but it comes a day after CM Kejriwal announced that his government would soon come up with "the most progressive" film policy in the country that would provide a massive boost to the entertainment industry. 6. Newly-formed Madhav Nepal-led CPN (Unified Socialist) to join Deuba-led govt The newly-formed CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal announced it will join Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led coalition government soon, vowing to not give up the communist ideology and move forward as a cultured revolutionary party. Mr. Deuba is likely to expand his six-member Cabinet on Friday. 7. Rajnath Singh to felicitate Olympians from Armed Forces Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will felicitate Olympians from the country's Armed Forces at a function at the Army Sports Institute in Pune on Friday, an official release said. All Armed Forces personnel who represented India in the Tokyo Olympics including gold medalist javelin thrower subedar Neeraj Chopra are likely to be present, it added. 8. Man City defender Mendy charged with 4 counts of rape Manchester City left back Benjamin Mendy has been charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, police said. The 27-year-old Mendy was suspended by City pending an investigation. Mendy was to remain in police custody overnight and is due to appear in court on Friday, police said.
