This week, "Pose" star Mj Rodriguez made history by becoming the first out trans woman to be nominated for an Emmy in the outstanding lead actress category. Rodriguez is also the first out trans performer to receive a nomination in any lead acting category, according to GLAAD. On the English-language version of Wikipedia, less than 19% of the more than a million biographies are about women. Francesca Tripodi, sociologist and assistant professor at the UNC School of Information and Library Science, recently released a study that looks at why.
