The cutest home goods we've ever seen
Hi, I'm Mallory!
I spent most of my life living in the great state of Maine (that's a lake in Maine I'm awkwardly paddle boarding on while wearing a skirt in my pic) before moving to New York to work at BuzzFeed. I started out writing movie trivia quizzes and testing weird vintage recipes, but these days I'm the Managing Editor of BuzzFeed Shopping. Photos: Mallory McInnes I live in Greenpoint in an apartment filled with so many books I could probably build a full-sized igloo out of 'em. Some of my favorite things include capybaras, my Netflix DVD subscription (yes, you can still get DVDs in the mail), spending a couple of hours putting together a 500-piece puzzle, and traveling around the city visiting breweries to try new sours and bakeries to try new pastries. My role on the Shopping team doesn't usually involve writing, so I'm excited to share some my favorite things with you! To see more of the things I love, you can follow me on Instagram.
Hope you enjoy my picks! Forwarded This Newsletter?
Think of WANT THIS as your own personal shopper! Each week, we'll have a new BuzzFeed Shopping editor who'll take you behind-the-scenes of what they're loving and what's at the top of their wishlist. WHAT I'M LOVING NOW
I had admired the handmade rugs at Rug By Gur for quite literally *years* until finally deciding to buy one in honor of my boyfriend. His last name is "Siegel" which, ya know, sounds like "seagull" a bit, so I consider that seabird to be his mascot. We're using it as a wall-hanging as opposed to a rug and it brings me joy whenever I look at it. While puzzles became super popular during the pandemic, I have been joyfully piecing dozens a year since around 2016. There are so many wonderful places to buy unique puzzles nowadays, but my absolute favorite is Ordinary Habit. The quality is the best I've seen (from the texture of the pieces to the packaging to the artwork itself). Last year I had, max, about 5 enamel pins. I always saw pins I wanted to buy, but I didn't really know what to do with them: in the past I'd pinned some to jackets or bags and lost them. Then I bought this pin board in December and, well, you can see how many pins I have now! If you're looking for a great way to display your collection, I would totally recommend getting a board of your own. There are many, many things in my apartment that are *technically* made to be toys for children, but that perfectly fit my colorful aesthetic so I use them as decor. Case in point = this guy! He's from Areaware's Block Party collection by the artist Andy Rementer. I own the whole collection (and have them displayed on shelves throughout my apartment), but this dude is my favorite.
