This ain't a scene, it's a pop punk revival

Donald Trump is still banned from Facebook, but that's not the final decision
Quick background: After Facebook banned Donald Trump, the decision was up for review by the company's Oversight Board, a kind of supreme court created by the company. The board is composed of legal scholars, activists, and journalists.
The review process served as a test of the board's powers. And the results are somewhat inconclusive: the Oversight Board said it "upheld" the platform's suspension of Trump from posting for the time being — but also kicked the ultimate decision back to Facebook, saying it "must reexamine the arbitrary penalty."
This means that, for now, Trump will not be allowed back on Facebook. But the board said the decision will have to be reexamined in six months. The board also heavily criticized the company's lack of enforcement of its own policies.
The board was critical of Facebook itself, adding that by applying a vague, standardless penalty and then leaving it up to the board, Facebook seeks to avoid its responsibilities. Mark Wilson / Getty Images STAYING ON TOP OF THIS
Ukraine's former prosecutor general said he was fired for not opening the Biden probe that Trump wanted
Rouslan Riaboshapka, Ukraine's former top prosecutor, told us he believes he was fired in March 2020 over his refusal to open an investigation into Hunter Biden — a probe that Rudy Giuliani and former president Donald Trump asked for, and which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's top aide had promised to see opened.
Riaboshapka told us that the transcript of a July 22, 2019, phone call between Giuliani and Andriy Yermak, published last week by BuzzFeed News, is evidence that he was ousted for political reasons.
Riaboshapka is the second official to say their firing was influenced by Giuliani's back-channel Ukraine campaign. Marie Yovanovitch, the former US ambassador to Ukraine, testified during Trump's first impeachment hearing that Giuliani was a part of the effort to get her fired. SNAPSHOTS
Two older Asian American women waiting at a bus stop were stabbed by a stranger. One of the women stabbed is 85 and the other is in her 60s. The stabbing was one of at least four unprovoked attacks on Asian people in several cities this week.
The cop who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks has been reinstated as an Atlanta police officer. Garrett Rolfe was fired two days after he shot and killed Brooks, a 27-year-old Black man who'd been sleeping in a parked car in a Wendy's parking lot. The Atlanta Civil Service Board found Rolfe, who is charged with Brooks' murder, was not fired in accordance with city code.
Peloton recalled its treadmills after one child died and others were injured. The recall comes after weeks of pushback from the fitness company, which is also well known for its stationary bike. The company now says it was a "mistake" to defend the product after the death of a 6-year-old child was announced in March.
Oscars producer Steven Soderbergh said it was "always part of the plan" to end the show on Best Actor following criticism over Chadwick Boseman's loss. When the Oscars ceremony ended with Best Actor, people assumed this was an opportunity to end with a tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Soderbergh, who produced this year's show, said the decision to rearrange the categories was made "well before the nominations came out." WHAT'S MY AGE AGAIN?
Gen Z is bringing emo back, but this time it's not just a bunch of white dudes
It's hard not to look back with fondness and tenderness at the pop-punk days of yore, the days of Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne. But it's not just millennials who are reliving those days — the genre has seen a resurgence and is resonating in a big way with Gen Z.
TikTok is flooded with videos of teenagers dancing to Paramore and Green Day. In fact, the 2007 pop-punk hit "Dear Maria, Count Me In" by All Time Low has become so cool, it went double platinum in March. The band has even announced a tour and album, as has the iconic group My Chemical Romance.
Here's the best part — beyond the nostalgia, there's a new crop of pop-punk artists to be excited about. This time around, it's not dominated by white dudes. The artists are more diverse in every sense of the word and are more reflective of the alternative community at large. DRAGONS, WINTER IS COMING, SWORDS, ETC. We finally have the first official photos from HBO's House of the Dragon
