1. Counting day Along with Assembly elections, counting of votes polled in Assembly and Lok Sabha bypolls across the States will be held. These include Morva Hadaf in Gujarat, Damoh in MP, Sahada, Sujangarh and Rajsamand in Rajasthan, Belgaum Lok Sabha seat and Maski and Basavakalyan seats in Karnataka. Kanyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll counting will also be held. 2. Counting halls up by 200% due to COVID norms; nearly a lakh personnel to count votes today Starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday, the counting of votes for the 822 Assembly seats spread across West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will take place at 2,364 counting halls following the COVID-19 protocols, the Election Commission (EC) said on Saturday. No candidates or their agents will be allowed inside the counting halls without a negative coronavirus report, according to the latest result-day guidelines issued by the EC. 3. Counting of votes in UP panchayat polls to be held today Counting of votes for the panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held on Sunday with the Supreme Court on Saturday refusing to stay the process. 4. Phase 3 of the vaccination drive The Health Ministry said 84,599 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine in the country on Saturday. A total of 16,48,192 vaccine doses were given till 8 p.m. on Saturday, the 106th day of the inoculation drive, the ministry said. 5. Seeking revival, SRH change leadership as they prepare to take on Royals In a desperate attempt to arrest their slide, SunRisers Hyderabad has thrust Kane Williamson into the leadership role by removing David Warner as they prepare to take on Rajasthan Royals, who are also struggling like them, in New Delhi on Sunday. 6. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases in India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 3,92,151, taking the tally in the country to 1,95,42,894 at the time of publishing this newsletter.
