1. Gujarat High Court to hear suo motu PIL on COVID-19 on Monday

Chief Justice Vikram Nath in his oral order said, "The newspapers, news channels are flooded with the harrowing tales, unfortunate and unimaginable difficulties, unmanageable conditions of the infrastructure, the shortfall and the deficit of not only testing, availability of beds, ICU, but also supply of oxygen and the basic medicines like remdesivir, etc."

3. Tamil Nadu CM to hold COVID-19 review meet today

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will on Monday hold a meeting with Ministers and senior officials to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the State, as cases have spiked in the past week.

4. Kerala Governor offers prayers at Sabarimala

The Governor would offer prayers at the shrine on Monday morning as well and plant a sapling on the precincts of the Malikapuram, the Travancore Devaswom Board said.

5. Benami deals: SC to pronounce verdict on ex-HC judge's plea against order of probe into conversation

The Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver on Monday the judgement on a plea of former Andhra Pradesh High Court Justice V Eswaraiah against a judicial probe into his conversation with a suspended district munsif magistrate on alleged benami transactions in Amaravati land scam and other issues.

6. Shantir Ogroshena, UN-mandated counter-terrorism exercise, concludes in Bangladesh on Monday

An Indian Army contingent of 30 personnel is participating along with the Royal Bhutan Army, Sri Lankan Army and Bangladesh Army in the exercise that will conclude on Monday. Army chief Gen M.M. Naravane attended the Army Chiefs' Conclave held in Dhaka on the sidelines of the exercise.

7. Shops, pubs, hairdressers gear up for easing of lockdown in UK

Non-essential retail shops, including shopping malls, pubs and restaurants and hairdressers are among the businesses gearing up to reopen their doors to customers from Monday, when England enters its next stage of COVID-19 lockdown restrictions being eased.

9. Hideki Matsuyama wins Augusta Masters

After riding out a four-hour swirl of emotions to finally secure history, Hideki Matsuyama lifted his cap and gave a slight bow. Matsuyama's victory came 10 years after he first competed at the prestigious event when he finished as the low amateur. He is the first player from Japan to win a men's major tournament with a one-shot victory at the Masters.

10. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments

The number of positive coronavirus cases India recorded in the last 24 hours stands at 1,64,713, taking the tally in the country to 1,35,22,065, at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 1,71,576.
