"This isn't a retail issue. This isn't an industry issue. This is a societal issue," Tracee Ellis Ross shared at this week's CNBC Inclusion in Action Forum. In conversation with CNBC's Rahel Solomon, she dove into the importance of inclusion in the business ecosystem. She described her 11-year journey to launch her haircare line "to meet the needs of the curly, coily and tight-textured community," her role as Ulta's Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, and her life's mission to celebrate "the joy, the beauty, the importance and the diversity and power of black people and black women in particular … if the gatekeepers don't change the system, the system will stay the same, she says.
Other highlights: Roger Ferguson, TIAA CEO – one of the most prominent Black executives in finance and former Fed Reserve leader joined us, and shared "it actually is economically a smart thing to do from a standpoint of business." We got insights on his success story and explored the firm evidence that diversity isn't just the right thing to do, but the smart thing to do. Girls Who Code Founder Reshma Saujani spoke about America's motherhood crisis at a tipping point: "We're not taking it anymore," she says.
