Market volatility from month-end rebalancing? | Biden’s infrastructure plan | March jobs report
EDITOR'S NOTE
Markets could face some quarter-end volatility in the week ahead, as big investors rebalance portfolios after the bond market's sharp sell-off since January. Stocks are on track to close out the quarter with solid gains, though the Nasdaq, home to tech and growth, is lagging.
The March jobs report is expected Friday, when the stock market is closed, but the bond market is open for a half-day of trading. Economists expect 630,000 jobs were created in March, and the unemployment rate fell to 6% from 6.2%, according to Dow Jones.
A big focus for markets will be the infrastructure plan expected to be detailed by President Joe Biden when he travels to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Strategists expect bond yields to remain a major point of concern for stocks, though they could continue to trade lower as pensions rebalance.
