Fatigue. It's a feeling many of us are having as we approach the one year mark of life in a pandemic. With vaccine distributions ramping up (albeit, slower than expected), there appears to be an end in sight for remote work… for some. Walgreens Pharmacy and Health Care SVP Rick Gates told Meg Tirrell at our Healthy Returns Spotlight event this week that widespread vaccines will be available late-March or early-April in pharmacies across the country. Gates was hopeful J&J's new vaccine will help boost supply. J&J CEO Alex Gorsky also joined us, saying J&J is working "full speed" on vaccine manufacturing, adding the company is "extremely confident" it will meet its target to deliver 100 million doses of its vaccine to the U.S. by the end of June. You can watch the full interview here.
With the prospect of an inoculated society coming into focus, some employees are eager to get back to the office, including those at Cisco. CEO Chuck Robbins said people aren't enjoying working from home anymore. In his view, a hybrid set up is far more realistic. For many businesses, a large portion of their workforce must be vaccinated in order to return to the workplace. One company is employing a novel idea, going so far as to pay employees to get the vaccine.
These issues will be the center of conversations at our annual @Work Summit on March 30th. We'll hear about future of work trends from leaders at Microsoft, discuss the exodus of women from the workforce with Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), address the challenges of 'work from anywhere', learn from those who have returned to work, dive into the biggest bets in emerging tech with Reid Hoffman, and more. Plus, we're thrilled to announce Matthew McConaughey will be closing the show to talk about his thoughts on creating a culture of understanding, with insights from his book Greenlights. | Tractor Supply CEO pays employees $50 to get Covid-19 vaccine | Tractor Supply is offering a one-time $50 incentive for its employees to get the Covid-19 vaccine. It's just one of many companies doing so, including Kroger, McDonald's and Instacart, that are paying its employees to get the vaccine. Tractor Supply CEO Hal Lawton says its current position is to advocate for the vaccine, but it hasn't chosen to mandate the vaccine to its employees. | | |
