Unity. It was the theme of Wednesday's inauguration, and it's what many hope lies ahead for the not-so-new year. With unequivocal statements about equity, immigration, education, the environment, and the pandemic evidenced by the 17 actions President Biden took on his first day in office, big changes are ahead for organizations and leaders. Tech behemoths like Amazon are coming in strong to lend support to be on the frontlines of a vaccinated society. Amazon's letter to Biden reads almost as if it's an ambitious new employee eager to help however they can. And with 10 executive orders dedicated to combating Covid-19, a lot could change for organizations across the globe, from data collection to supply chains. We'll have our eyes on the trickle down of these orders.
The ongoing exodus of Silicon Valley is a warning sign for California as former Cisco CEO John Chambers shared on our air this week (he also joined us for an @Work event at the start of the pandemic). Even his own start-ups are thinking about leaving the state. "If California isn't careful, they're going to lose their leadership and the jobs created with it," he shared. The exodus paired with the strict lockdown and shutdown for California will likely have long lasting implications for the state.
