PM to flag-off 8 trains connecting Statue of Unity in Kevadiya with different parts of country Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag-off eight trains connecting different regions of the country with Kevadiya, home to the Statue of Unity dedicated to Vallabhbhai Patel, in Gujarat on Sunday via video-conferencing. 3. First phase of voting for over 1,200 panchayats in Himachal Pradesh The first of the three-phase Panchayati Raj institution elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held on Sunday. Voting in 1,227 gram panchayats will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The remaining two phases are slated to be held on January 19 and January 21. 4. Delhi Police issues advisory, asks commuters to avoid Nagar Kirtan procession routes According to the advisory, the procession of Nagar Kirtan organised by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will start around 9.30 a.m. on Sunday from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib and is likely to terminate late in the evening at Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha in Hari Nagar. 5. No delay to Australian Open after 47 players hit by Covid chaos Australian Open chief Craig Tiley insisted Sunday the Grand Slam would begin as scheduled next month, while admitting it was "not a great situation" for the 47 players who have been confined to their hotel rooms. The tournament was thrown into disarray on Saturday when three people tested positive to Covid-19 on two of the 17 charter flights that brought players and their entourages to Melbourne and Adelaide. 6.
