The Biden era begins
EDITOR'S NOTE
Hello,
We are just a little over a day away from the beginning of a new administration. At noon tomorrow, Joe Biden will take the oath of office to become the 46th president of the United States.
Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, are promising a dramatic shift from their predecessors' way of doing business. But what will that look like?
First, let's look at executive actions planned for his first week:
Then there are his actions aimed at fighting the pandemic, including economic relief:
Helping Biden work toward achieving these goals will be Treasury Secretary-designate Janet Yellen, whose confirmation hearing is today, and a trio of new Democratic senators who will be sworn in tomorrow: Georgia's Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, who earlier this month won dramatic runoff victories; and California's Alex Padilla, who is replacing Harris.
Biden and Harris are slated to speak at 5:30 p.m. ET today before tomorrow's historic events. Be sure to check in with CNBC.com all day tomorrow for live coverage of the Biden-Harris inauguration.
