Dilli Chalo | Former sportspersons from Punjab to return awards in support of farmers’ agitation Several former sportspersons from Punjab including Padma Shri and Arjuna awardees left for Delhi to return their awards to President Ram Nath Kovind in support of the farmers’ protest. “If are not allotted a time to meet the President, we will place our awards outside the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday,” said former hockey player Rajbir Kaur. 2. Bhagwat holds meeting with RSS functionaries of Bihar, Jharkhand RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is presiding over the two-day Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandals (ABKM) region-wise meeting that started in Patna on Saturday. The meeting would conclude on Sunday. 3. Japan capsule carrying asteroid samples lands in Australia, retrieval to begin  In the early hours of Sunday, the capsule, protected by a heat shield, briefly turned into a fireball as it reentered the atmosphere 120 km above Earth. At about 10 km above ground, a parachute opened to slow its fall and beacon signals were transmitted to indicate its location. A retrieval of the pan-shaped capsule, about 40 centimeters in diameter, will start after sunrise. 4. Key meeting of Nepal’s ruling party to resolve political tussle ends inconclusively The much-awaited Central Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) ended inconclusively on Saturday. A Standing Committee meeting on Sunday will discuss two separate papers presented by Prachanda and Oli making allegations against each other during previous meetings. 5. Romania election expected to usher in ‘European’ generation Romanians will vote on Sunday in a legislative election expected to restore some measure of stability in a country with one of the European Union’s highest emigration rates, and bring to power a generation that came of age in a time of national turmoil and strongly identifies as European. 6. Johnson, EU chief agree to more Brexit talks to try to break deadlock  Britain and the European Union will reconvene post-Brexit trade negotiations in Brussels on Sunday after UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and EU chief Ursula von der Leyen held inconclusive talks, as time runs out to seal a deal. 7. Mumbai City FC eye third straight win against Odisha FC With a well-oiled unit at their disposal, in-form Mumbai City FC will be eyeing their third successive win when they take on Odisha FC in an Indian Super League game in Bambolim on Sunday. 8. India hit Test mode with first warm-up game, look to sort combinations India will look to figure out their playing XI as the Test squad gets into the groove by taking on Australia ‘A’ in a three-day warm-up game at Drummoyne Oval from Sunday. 9. Bottas on pole for Sakhir Grand Prix  Valtteri Bottas claims pole position for Sunday's Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain, edging out Mercedes teammate George Russell in qualifying in the absence of coronavirus-hit world champion Lewis Hamilton. 10. South Africa team clears COVID-19 tests, ODI series against England to begin on Sunday The South African team on Saturday returned negative for COVID-19, paving the way for the start of the ODI series against England after it was thrown into doubt by the emergence of a positive case before the opening match. 11. Coronavirus | Latest numbers and developments The number of positive coronavirus cases reported from India now stands at 96,37,514 at the time of publishing this newsletter.
